At the Antonio Meucci Awards 2026, Sendium earned two High-Distinction Awards, taking third place in both 4D – Revolutionary Contribution and 4E – Best Telco Newcomer. The recognition marked an important milestone for the growing open-source project and came during an exciting month of international industry connections, new conversations and new opportunities for the Sendium community.
During our presence in Madrid for the Wholesale World Congress (WWC) 2026 and the Antonio Meucci Global Telco Awards 2026, Sendium was recognized in two categories:
- 4D – Revolutionary Contribution
- 4E – Best Telco Newcomer
For a developing open-source telecom project, this double recognition represents an important milestone and reinforces the vision behind Sendium: making professional SMS infrastructure more open,
A Milestone for the Sendium Community
Sendium was created to give telecom professionals and technical teams greater control over their messaging infrastructure.
Instead of treating an SMS Gateway as a closed system, Sendium provides an open-source environment that organizations can understand, configure and adapt according to their operational needs.
Being recognized in both the Revolutionary Contribution and Best Telco Newcomer categories at the Antonio Meucci Global Telco Awards is therefore especially meaningful.
It reflects not only the progress of the platform itself, but also the growing interest in open, transparent and flexible alternatives within the telecom industry.
Why the Antonio Meucci Awards 2026 Recognition Matters
Recognition at the Antonio Meucci Awards 2026 carries particular significance for Sendium because the project is still at an early stage of its journey.
Sendium was built around the idea that telecom infrastructure does not have to operate as a closed black box. Open-source infrastructure can give operators, developers and messaging providers greater visibility into how their systems work, greater freedom to integrate with existing environments and more control over how their infrastructure evolves.
Receiving High-Distinction Awards in both Revolutionary Contribution and Best Telco Newcomer therefore reinforces an important part of that vision. The recognition shows that conversations around openness, flexibility and greater infrastructure control are relevant to the wider telecom ecosystem.
For Sendium, the next step is not simply to celebrate the awards, but to continue developing the platform, listening to telecom professionals and building a stronger open-source community around modern messaging infrastructure.
Bringing Sendium to WWC 2026
Alongside the awards, the Sendium team also participated in the Wholesale World Congress 2026, held in Madrid from September 16–18.
WWC brought together telecom operators, messaging providers, technology companies and industry professionals from markets around the world.
During the event, we had the opportunity to introduce Sendium to new industry professionals, reconnect with existing contacts and discuss some of the challenges currently shaping the messaging ecosystem.
These conversations covered areas such as A2P messaging, SMS routing, infrastructure flexibility, delivery performance and the increasing need for organizations to maintain greater visibility and control over their messaging environments.
Building More Flexible SMS Infrastructure
Sendium is an open-source SMS Gateway designed for organizations and technical teams that need more than simple message forwarding.
The platform bridges HTTP-based applications with SMPP connectivity and enables teams to build and manage messaging workflows according to their own infrastructure requirements.
With Sendium, organizations can work toward greater control over areas such as:
- SMS routing and routing rules
- Throughput management
- Delivery reports
- Failover mechanisms
- Messaging infrastructure monitoring
- Integration between HTTP applications and SMPP networks
This flexibility can be particularly valuable for organizations seeking to reduce dependency on closed platforms and avoid unnecessary vendor lock-in.
Recognition Is Only the Beginning
The double recognition at the Antonio Meucci Awards 2026 is an important achievement for Sendium, but it is also another step in the platform’s development.
Our goal remains to continue building an open-source SMS Gateway that can evolve together with the needs of telecom professionals, messaging providers and developers.
The conversations and feedback received during WWC 2026 provide valuable input as we continue improving the platform and expanding the Sendium community.
We would like to thank everyone who met with us in Madrid, supported the project and contributed to Sendium’s journey so far.
And this is only the beginning.
